365 Days of Thankfulness: The Little Things

Appreciating the little things in life means that you focus your attention on what nurtures and sustains you in life. On everything that brings you even the smallest amount of pleasure. It also means practicing gratitude by noticing these everyday things that you take for granted so easily. - Anon

The reason why I've been posting 365 Days of Thankfulness couple of times a week because I am exercising this routine of 'keeping a gratitude journal'. I find it a challenge to do it everyday especially as I don't find much time blogging. But whenever I can, I take a look at my how my day went, pull on Notes in my phone and jotted down small things that are significantly magnified when I asked myself this question: what are things that I am thankful today?
So for the last couple of days, here are the things that I have taken note of:

- Thursday night, I was already in bed. Hubby still working. And I heard him singing. Well, he's got a good voice, he is musically inclined. But it's not because he is good at singing that's why I'm thankful. There are just moment that you realized how you appreciate a person's character or trait. Regardless of how stressful situations are, my hubby, a very optimistic person can still find a joyful tune in life. My daughter has a joyful spirit too. I know she takes it after her dad. Lot of times that I heard my kid singing in the shower just few seconds after I reprimanded her. Their personality is so light and so loving and so forgiving and I am thankful I am loved by them.

- Last Sunday, I got a new haircut. And my kid got hers too. A Korean-style bangs. My kid loved it, I loved my new bangs too. The awesome thing about? It's free. Because it a DIY at home haircutting. After searching and watching lots of YouTube videos on how to layer hair and cut bangs, I finally had the courage to do it myself and with no regrets!

- Starting 23rd of January, restrictions here in Manitoba have loosened up. Inside gathering is now allowed up to 5 people maximum (including the household). So we had our dinner with my sister-in-law's family after such a long time.

- We did a leap of faith last year. Amidst pandemic, we decided to purchase a house. This is a major decision as it involves a lot of careful planning and considerations especially on the side of finances. So this week, because of the lock down, all our appointments were done virtually. Even the design selection where you would choose wall paint  and all the small details will be done thru a zoom meeting. That's tough! But we are just so thankful it's over now. We prepared a spreadsheet with all our selections and questions on it, the interior designer we talked to was just so happy to assist us as we came prepared. The interior designer we talked to assured as that all the selections we made will be an awesome combinations. Our house will be so welcoming, spacious and clean and so nice to look at!
So there, these are my little things for this week.
